Shortcomings
The shortcomings of e-therapy come from the limitations imposed by the lack of personal contact and only the verbal exchange of information between client and therapist. The non-verbal communication is an extremely important part of the therapeutic contact – both at the stage of primary diagnostics as well as at the stage of curative impact. Therefore the therapists cannot commit to giving diagnosis on-line in the same way they cannot make use of the wide range of psycho-therapeutic methods of influence that are accessible in a face-to-face contact. Traditional psychotherapy in the consulting office of the specialist is and remains the best method for helping and curing a psychic disease. Turning to on-line therapy and consultations is recommended only in case one can’t afford for one reason or another to personally see an expert on the problems of mental well being in her office.
